Journey

As part our drawing certificate we have been completing a course of drawing and mapping classes. The first exercise we were asked to complete was to create a map showing all of the journeys we have made in our lives.
I have created an abstract piece looking at all of the flights I have taken during my life. I decided to try and create my own world map that was unique to me. Using charcoal, I created very dark smudged, curved lines. Starting from the bottom left hand corner, the individual circle represents England. The curved lines then represent Europe, Africa and America working across to the top right hand corner. If there are two circles per line, these represent stop offs or changed flights. The rings around the lines are the amount of times I have visited the country.
